Juniorettes
JM Juniorette Chairman - Rose Havron
Greetings ‘Ettes I am your State Board Chair, Rose Havron!
This is my second year as the Juniorette Chair and I am excited to again be in this position.  I have previously served on the State Board as Garden District Advisor as well as my club (West Deptford JWC) President and Recording Secretary.  For the past three years, I worked in a high school guidance office so I feel it is natural for me to work with teenage girls.  My family and I moved into the College District over the summer and I am now spending my time taking care of my home, kids and husband while trying to settle into a new area.  I have a reputation for being fun and funny so I know we will have a GREAT year.  Please keep in touch with me via Jersey Juniors, or our facebook group; Jersey Juniorettes

            Love is Respect:  http://loveisrespect.org/

The loveisrespect.org National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline is a 24 hour resource for teens and young adults experiencing dating abuse. It is specifically designed with teens and young adults in mind, operating around the growing technologies that they use most often: the phone, the web, and chat. Young men and women, along with their friends and families, can anonymously contact a trained teen dating abuse advocate by phone 24/7 at (866) 3331-9474 or TTY (866) 331-8453. They can also chat in a one-on-one, confidential conversation with a peer advocate between the hours of 4 pm and midnight. All advocates on the loveisrespect.org National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline are trained to offer crisis intervention, safety planning, and referrals from a database of over 4,500 resource providers.

One of our goals is to have  all the juniorettes attach the logo on their MY SPACE  profile  to show  they support
groups that work against domestic violence and teen dating violence.  The GFWC encourages the clubs to start promoting this project now.

If you have any questions about the above projects or anything, please email

PROJECT LINUS

Who doesn't like to curl up on a cold winter's night with their own special warm blanket? Many people do not have this luxury such as the homeless families who sleep in shelters, or kids who enter foster care. Your Juniorette club can help them derive some comfort from sleeping in a strange bed in a strange place with the gift of a Blanket Hug!

 Materials Needed: Fleece blankets, or
Fleece material to make blankets
Scissors
Construction paper, tape
Steps Involved  Contact a shelter or agency that you think could use Blanket Hugs. 1.         Decide if you will purchase the blankets or material. Fleece blankets can be found in stores starting at $5.O0. 2.       If your club makes the blankets, cut fringe (3 inches) at the ends of the fleece for a decorative touch. 3.      To make the "hugs" trace your hands on construction paper and attach to "arms" or a strip of paper that will wrap around the rolled blanket. Include a caring message on the strip around the blanket or make a caring card. 4.       Deliver your Blanket Hugs. Visit Project Linus, www.projectlinus.org, an organization dedicated to providing hand made blankets to babies, children suffering from serious illness and trauma, in hospitals, cancer treatment facilities, clinics, hospices and homeless shelters
