Jersey Juniors - Making History Now!

Education
A note from Karel................

OK, so the radio station is playing Christmas songs and I just saw one lady putting up her Christmas lights...and I just want to go 'Not Yet!'

But it's coming and that means report writing can't be far behind! So how did your education department fare this year? Did you do a couple of big projects or a bunch of small ones?

There are still some time to do some activities and plenty of time to get ready for next year! Stop on by the education page for some last minute ideas and a look into 2009. Don't forget to check out the spelling bee pages.

Give the gift of education this holiday - to yourself, your family and your community!

***********

Hi all! I'm Karel Black and I'm from Clearview Wenonah Junior Women's Club. You may have seen me in such roles as Corresponding Secretary, Southern Assistant Director, part time Membership Liaison, Captain Jack Sparrow and of course, Laverne Vespuci from Loco Del Playas skit at convention. I've been a Junior for 18 years, and have spent several years on the Executive Board.

I'll be responsible for the spelling bee next year and will be going through the material this summer. Not much will change, though I may send out new spell binder inserts just to make sure everyone has what they need. If you have any suggestions, changes, ideas on how to improve the spelling bee, feel free to email me! If you had particular words that were problematic, please send them to me.

The State Bee will be held March 15 at NJSWC Headquarters. It would be great if all District Bees could be finished by February 15, so I can send out invitations to the District Bee winners.

I will be also promoting various education projects. One big one is the ESO - Epsilon Sigma Omicron - which is a honorary educational society open to all GFWC members. Basically, it's one big reading group that you do on  your own time or you can form groups within your club.  Here are directions on how to get started:

Send a $3.50 check to Headquarters made out to the NJSFWC and earmarked ESO with your name, address, the name of your club and the district.    For that price you will be registered and receive the  reading list. To become a member, you read 20 books, four books from five categories you select and write a 50 word review for each book.
Fun and Easy!

Have a great summer!!
